
Mehdi Mohammadi DDS, MPH, MS

Director, Community Oral Health Master and Certificate Programs
Dr. Mohammadi earned his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from Maratha Mandal Dental College in Belgaum, India, in 2000. He later completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2003 from Tehran University, Iran. Following two years in private practice, Dr. Mohammadi moved to the United Kingdom, where he achieved a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Cardiff University in 2007. Subsequently, he furthered his dental qualifications in the United States by completing a two-year Advanced Standing Program for International Dentists at the University of Southern California (USC), earning a DDS in 2012, and later obtaining a master’s degree in geriatric dentistry in 2018.
Currently, Dr. Mohammadi serves as the Section Chair of Community Outreach Programs at the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry at USC and directs the USC+URM Dental Clinic. In this role, he is responsible for the administrative oversight of adult community clinics and supervises fourth-year dental students (D4) as they deliver comprehensive dental care to individuals experiencing homelessness at clinics in the Skid Row area of downtown Los Angeles. Moreover, he has been involved in teaching the online geriatric residents since 2019 and recently appointed as program director of Community Oral Health masters and certificate programs.

COH 710 | 2 units | Health Assessment Focusses on the importance of health assessment in order to understand the needs and priorities of a community. The concepts of vulnerability and inequality are addressed, identifying strategies to achieve appropriate health care and healthy communities. |
