Adjunct Assistant Professor of Clinical Denistry

Dr. Sharifi serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Dentistry, contributing to the USC Ostrow Online Geriatric program. She holds a DDS and an MS degree in Geriatric Dentistry from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC.

Each session of the course will involve the study of a particular topic in Geriatric Dentistry, including prevention, diagnosis, dental restorative materials and treatment, as well as practice management and dental care delivery models.

Seminars and lectures include clinical assessment tools for geriatric patients, policy issues, myths and theories of aging and successful aging principles
GDEN 713 2 units Common Systemic Conditions in Older Patients
Lectures and seminars about the aging patient including dementia, Parkinson’s disease, common cancers, renal and bladder issues, sexually transmitted diseases, elder abuse issues, post-menopausal issues, and hearing and vision disorders.
GDEN 712 (a,b,c,d) 0.5 units Capstone Research Project for GDEN Students
This is a four trimester course where residents conduct and write up a report on their selected topic (usually a systematic review) and defend it in front of the faculty review committee.
