An Orofacial Pain Specialist will be competent on:
- Performing history-taking and physical examinations in patients with OFP.
- Recommending and interpreting common diagnostic and screening tests and imaging.
- Developing and justifying prioritized differential diagnoses.
- Developing and implementing a management/treatment plan.
- Presenting oral and written reports that document a clinical encounter.
- Performing common OFP procedures
- Recognizing a patient requiring interdisciplinary care and initiating the proper referral.
- Evaluating OFP literature and integrating evidence into clinical practice.
- Delivering scholarly teaching to a variety of audiences, including peers, junior trainees, and/or other health professionals.
- Contributing to the development of knowledge about OFP
