The Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC’s Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine Distance Learning program offers an extraordinary five-day On-Campus Bootcamp that develops clinical competency through intensive hands-on training and real-world patient exposure. This exclusive experience serves as the cornerstone for program participants, combining advanced clinical skills practice, expert-led case discussions, and rigorous competency assessments in a focused week of immersive learning.
Led by Program Director Dr. Anette Vistoso Monreal, DDS, MS, DABOP, Director of Distance Learning Programs, Director of the Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine Program the bootcamp brings together an expert interprofessional faculty team in Orofacial Pain, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, and Radiology to deliver an unmatched educational experience.
Assessment techniques include rigorous OSCEs, complex case-based examinations, and clinical Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs). The intensive curriculum spans orofacial pain diagnosis, injection techniques, imaging interpretation, polysomnography, prescription management, and telehealth, ensuring graduates emerge with the sophisticated clinical skill set that defines excellence in orofacial pain and oral medicine practice.
Clinical rotations at the Orofacial and Oral Medicine Center place students alongside expert faculty in live patient care settings, making this bootcamp’s combination of expert instruction, real clinical scenarios, and rigorous competency testing an unparalleled learning environment for dental professionals advancing their careers in this specialized field.
